SEC “Geodynamics and geoecology of the mineral resources: modelling, prediction and monitoring”

The Geophysical centre RAS (GC RAS) and the Moscow State Mining University (MSMU) founded joint Scientific-educational centre (SEC) “Geodynamics and geoecology of the mineral resources: modelling, prediction and monitoring”. SEC was established under the Agreement on Cooperation between GC RAS and ​​department “Engineering Environmental protection“ of Physics and Technical Faculty of the Moscow State Mining University (hereinafter MSMU).

SEC provides the performance of the joint researches in the following main directions:

  • Working out the new methods of geodynamics classification of territories in the areas where there are radiation-dangerous objects of nuclear fuel cycle;
  • Investigation and modelling of stress strain behaviour (SSB) in choosing the places of radiation-dangerous objects allocation including underground objects;
  • Development of the scientific-training base of the information technologies application for the prediction of the geological environment sustainability based on the SSB models of heterogenous block massive;
  • Investigation of the up-to-date crustal movements based on the application of the Global Navigation Satellite System (GPS/GNSS);

Under the provisions of SEC it is headed by Academician A. D. Gvishiani and its scientific head is doctor of the technical sciences, professor V. N. Morozov.

June 15, 2017. A. D. Gvishiani was appointed the new Editor-in-Chief of the electronic scientific Russian Journal of Earth Sciences (RJES), published since 1998. RJES is included in the core of Web of Science, RICC, RSCI, CrossRef and the list of VAK.

April 19, 2017. A meeting of the Commission of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation was held to assess the fulfillment of the Federal Targeted Programme for R&D in Priority Areas of Development of the Russian Scientific and Technological Complex for 2014-2020. Anatoly Soloviev, Deputy Director for Science of GC RAS, spoke about the results of the final stage of the project "Development of innovative technology and creation of experimental sample of hardware-software complex for monitoring extreme geomagnetic phenomena using terrestrial and satellite data" carried out under the agreement No. 14.607.21.0058 of September 22, 2014. The meeting participants decided to accept the obtained results.

April 12, 2017. The XXIV International Scientific Conference "Lomonosov-2017" was held at the Lomonosov Moscow State University. Engineer of the Laboratory of Geoinformatics and Geomagnetic Studies of GC RAS A. G. Smirnov made a report "Analysis of global models of the Earth's main magnetic field" in the section "Geology". The presentation aroused great interest among the students and members of the program committee. A.G. Smirnov was awarded a diploma of the competition of scientific works of the Geological Faculty of Moscow State University among students, graduate students and young scientists.

March 31, 2017. For many years of conscientious work, significant progress in professional activities, great personal contribution to the development of scientific and technical cooperation, Dr.Sc. Vladislav Nikolaevich Morozov and Dr.Sc., Head of Geodynamics laboratory Viktor Nikolaevich Tatarinov were awarded with the insignia of the State Atomic Energy Corporation "Rosatom": "For contribution to the development of the nuclear industry". We congratulate the award winners!
