July 6-10, 2018. Scientists of the Laboratory of Geoinformatics and Geomagnetic Studies D. V. Peregudov and M. N. Dobrovolsky took part in the joint event – the 26th Extended European Cosmic Ray Symposium and 35th Russian Cosmic Ray Conference. The event was held at the Altai State University (Barnaul, Russia).

The European Cosmic Ray Symposium was attended by leading scientists from all over the world who are experts in the field of astrophysics. During the event, the following main topics were covered: cosmic ray physics, gamma-ray astronomy, neutrino astronomy, dark matter physics, solar-terrestrial physics and heliosphere, theory and models of cosmic-particle physics.

D. V. Peregudov and M. N. Dobrovolsky presented the intermediate results of the project "Creation of a method for early diagnostics of geomagnetic storms based on digital processing of time series of observational matrices of a muon hodoscope" (led by A. A. Soloviev):

  • the hardware function of the URAGAN muon hodoscope;
  • a method for eliminating daily variations of the muon flows based on the URAGAN hodoscope data;
  • a method for the search of local anisotropy of muon flows in the URAGAN hodoscope matrix data.

July 2-4, 2018. Leading engineer of the Laboratory of Geoinformatics and Geomagnetic Studies of GC RAS A. Grudnev visited "Klimovskaya" observatory (Arkhangelsk region, Klimovskaya village). The main goal of the expedition is to carry out routine preventive works aimed at maintaining the working capacity of geomagnetic equipment, including a scalar magnetometer.

July 4, 2018. Two international scientific organizations - the International Council for Science (ICSU) and the International Social Science Council (ISSC) have united in a new union - the International Science Council (ISC). GC RAS represents the interests of Russia in the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG), now part of the ISC. IUGG General Secretary Alik T. Ismail-Zade was elected as the chief secretary of the newly formed Council.
